Love and Preserve
We want the nature of Ko Talu to remain beautiful forever, which is why we strive to ensure that our tourism activities have the least possible impact on the environment.
Eco-friendly activities
Most of the activities on Ko Talu are environmentally friendly, such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), sailing, and snorkeling, all of which have minimal environmental impact.
Buildings that blend
We have built accommodations that minimally alter the original natural surroundings, using materials that are recyclable. Some of the houses are Thai-style knockdown homes, which can be easily dismantled and relocated.
Community employment
We support local employment to enhance skills and create income opportunities for the community.
Freshwater management
The water used comes from natural water sources, and efficient freshwater management on the island ensures that there is no need to transport freshwater from the mainland unnecessarily.
Local ingredients
Every meal on the island is made from ingredients carefully sourced from local producers to directly support the community's income. This also helps minimize environmental impact by reducing the need for transporting ingredients from distant food sources.
Save Energy
Visiting the sea offers the chance to breathe in fresh air while engaging in outdoor activities. Therefore, it is a time to avoid using electricity in order to reduce fuel consumption and minimize pollution from diesel engines used to generate power.
Waste Management
We strive to reduce plastic waste by setting up a water bottling facility on the island to minimize the use of plastic bottles. Additionally, we implement waste segregation, recycling, and process organic waste into compost for growing our own vegetables.
Ko Talu has been a well-known landmark for sailors for over a hundred years, regarded as the "gateway to the Gulf of Siam." In the past, cargo ships would seek refuge here during the monsoon season. Sailors were well aware that this island offered abundant nature both underwater and on land.
Later, during World War I, local villagers settled on the island, planting coconut groves in the traditional islander way. Fishermen also used Ko Talu as a place to catch fish for their livelihood.
When news spread about the abundance of fish in Bang Saphan Bay, fishing fleets from all over began to swarm around Ko Talu, overfishing the area.
Around 1979, Mr. Preeda Charoenpak, a former fisherman from Phetchaburi, moved to Bang Saphan after he had successfully brought trawlers to catch mackerel behind Ko Talu. He later bought land for a coconut plantation from the island's residents and committed to preserving the land and surrounding sea. This led to the creation of Ko Talu Island Resort, a tourism business that follows conservation principles, along with various environmental conservation projects.
The Islanders
We, the people of Ko Talu Island Resort, consider ourselves islanders because Ko Talu is the home we are deeply connected to, spending nearly every day here.
Every morning, the islanders gather to pick up the trash that the waves washed ashore overnight. The head cook begins preparing meals using fresh local ingredients to serve to the guests waking up. The island’s dive instructor swims out to check on the coral planting beds, while the staff at the sea turtle nursery diligently cleans the turtle tanks and ensures the well-being of the hundreds of baby turtles.
As the morning progresses, it’s time to welcome a new group of tourists arriving by boat. In the afternoon, the islanders head out to explore the underwater world, getting to know the schools of fish and the coral reefs. As evening falls, both the hosts and visitors come together to enjoy a beautiful night of conversation and camaraderie. And so, the rhythm of life on Ko Talu continues, day after day.
Get Stranded, Get Enchanted.
Whether it’s the islanders working here every day or the tourists visiting Ko Talu for just a short while, life on this island is a happy one. It’s a life surrounded by simple yet precious things— the breeze, the sunlight, the scent of the sea, the sound of the wind rustling the leaves, the changing colors of the sea at different times of the day, the bright sky during the day, and the golden hues of sunset.
Because of its natural beauty, we are dedicated to creating a resort that exists in harmony with nature. Ko Talu Island Resort is a place for nature lovers, managed with a deep love for the environment. We offer simple accommodations, but the happiness of our guests is found in every corner— whether on a bed, in a hammock under the shade of a tree, or on the sandy beach.
Ko Talu is not so small as to feel cramped, but it’s also not too large to explore on foot. You’ll feel complete privacy because only the resort’s guests are on the island. You can linger in different spots for as long as you like, or if you prefer a bit more activity, there are various options available— kayaking, snorkeling, sailing, hiking, or participating in conservation and volunteer activities. And when you’ve worked up an appetite, it’s time for a meal. We serve familiar dishes made with the best local ingredients from the sea. All of this is part of the endless happiness found in our All-Inclusive Package, where everything is included in one price.
